Print construction, linoleum, metal and wood. Piece measures 65” tall 31” wide and 21.75” deep.
The piece is activated by the viewer grabbing the handle and rotating the drive crank. The gears driving the piece are repurposed timing belts. The matrix (on the right) and the print (on the left) are wrapped around sonotube drums. These drums are intended to replicate the drums of a printing press. This piece was constructed to replicate the moment that a print is pulled from the matrix to reveal the finished print. This apparatus affectively prints the image in perpetuity.
All photos were taken on location at the Kimura Gallery in the Fine Arts building at UAA by Ed.
